1. Minimum Volume of Mineral Material
Unless preapproved, each shipment must contain a minimum quantity of 2 – 5-gallon buckets.
2. Maximum Weight of Mineral Material
The weight of each 5-gallon bucket shall not exceed 75 lbs.
3. Approved Shipping Containers
The weight of each 5-gallon bucket shall not exceed 75 lbs.
4. Sample Containment
- All mineral samples must be placed in sealed geological sample or 6 mil polyethylene plastic bags inside the shipping container.
- Each sealed sample bag must have a legibly marked sample ID number.
5. Documentation Requirements
A copy of the PTOE Labs Sample Submission Form (SSF) must be placed in a watertight bag and enclosed inside the shipping container before sealing.
6. Container Markings
- Shipper’s name
- A valid physical return shipping address
- Custodian of record
- PTOE-issued Company ID number that corresponds to the sample owner
- Handwritten Company ID number using permanent ink
7. Sealing Procedure
After sealing the container, all lids must be wrapped and resealed with clear shipping tape.
8. Prohibition of Hazardous Materials
No hazardous material shall be shipped to or received by PTOE Labs.

10. Approved Bulk Sample Containers
- New, sealed 1-ton bulk bags/super sacks
- New, sealed 55-gallon steel drums
- Used or damaged 55-gallon drums will be rejected
- Each bulk container must have the same identification labels
By shipping samples to PTOE Labs, the sender acknowledges and agrees to comply with all the above requirements. Non-compliant shipments may be rejected or returned at the sender’s expense.
